Description: Community Health Centers are complex organizations requiring Boards of Directors to be well-oriented to the organization and the Health Center Program, and also equipped, well-versed, and up-to-date on the most significant factors impacting service delivery at community health centers. This requires ongoing training on several important topics. As volunteer Boards of Directors with monthly meetings scheduled, and committee work in between, it is challenging to allocate a large block of time exclusively dedicated to board training. Therefore, to provide the opportunity for all board members to be introduced to selected training topics, it is recommended that a short training session be included as an agenda item at monthly board meetings. Bridging the Digital Divide: Tactics to Address Patient Barriers to Virtual Care (2021). Resource Type: Publication. Description: Lack of Internet and broadband access prevents some patients from using telehealth and other technology that can support their own health care and getting accurate health care information. In one 2020 study, 42 million Americans lacked adequate access to broadband (high speed internet). As of 2019, about one in five people did not have smartphones, and among low income people nearly one third do not have a smartphone. Rates of computer ownership are not much better. Those patients who do have access to the technology may or may not have the capacity and willingness to use it, depending on past experiences. Some patients aren\'t comfortable with technology, while others don\'t trust it or believe that virtual care is sub-par, despite growing evidence of its benefits. Description: Despite mounting evidence of the positive impacts CHW programs can have, there is currently a lack of data relating these services to financial outcomes. One possible method to further evaluate and understand these programs’ economic impact is “Return on Investment” (ROI) analysis, which calculates the total benefit derived from each dollar invested in a program. Bright Spots in HIV Screening: Health center examples, developed June 2022 (2022). Resource Type: Publication. Description: Since 2020, health centers have reported the HIV Screening clinical quality measure on Table 6B of the UDS. This measures the portion of medical patients aged 15 through 65 who have at least one HIV test recorded between their 15th and 66th birthday.
